Deep link tester

Paste any deep link, on any domain. See what a tap does on iOS, Android and in social apps, which domain files cover it, and exactly what your app receives.

What this checks

  • Every redirect the link goes through, each hop checked before it's followed.
  • Whether the domain's apple-app-site-association file has a components or paths rule that matches this exact URL, in the order iOS reads them, and which apps assetlinks.json lets Android open.
  • What a tap does in Safari, Chrome, and the in-app browsers of Instagram, Facebook and TikTok, from Apple's and Google's documented behaviour.
  • The path and every query parameter as iOS, Android and JavaScript decode them, with the usual traps: + versus %2B, repeated keys, #fragments and broken percent-encoding.
  • Whether the domain is on an ad-block list.

Questions

Why does my link open the app from Notes but not from Safari?
iOS only opens an app for a link the user taps. Typing or pasting a link into Safari's address bar always loads the page, and so does tapping a link to the same domain from a page already open in Safari. Test from Notes, Messages or Mail.
Why doesn't my link open the app from Instagram or TikTok?
Instagram, Facebook and TikTok open links in their own built-in browser, where Universal Links and App Links usually don't fire. The user has to pick Open in Safari or Open in browser from the menu. A link page with an Open in app button covers it.
Why does my app get a space where the link had a +?
A + in a query string means a space to form decoders: Android's Uri.getQueryParameter and JavaScript's URLSearchParams turn it into one, while iOS's URLComponents.queryItems keeps the +. Encode a plus sign as %2B and a space as %20 so both platforms get the same value.
Can this check my Android intent filters?
No. Intent filters live in the app's manifest, not on the web. The tester shows which apps assetlinks.json allows for the domain; the app opens if its manifest also has an android:autoVerify intent filter for the host and path.

Links that just open the app

On DeepLinkNow every path on your domain opens your app with no setup, the domain files are generated for you, and the app gets the exact link even after an install.
